FARO® Orbis™ Premium Mobile Laser Scanner Release
With the introduction of Orbis Premium, several updates have come along. Flash scans are now easier to identify, as they are marked with a flash icon on the floor plan. Flash scans offer several advantages: denser point clouds, reduced noise, and the ability to take measurements directly from the 360° photos.
With Orbis Premium, a new capture method has been introduced: static images. Users can now capture quick and crisp 360° photos at specific locations, which are marked as normal waypoints.
New Annotations List in Side Panel
Annotations are now conveniently accessible within Sphere XG’s left-hand side panel. This streamlined approach eliminates the need to navigate to the Dashboard, simplifying how you locate and review annotations. The new annotations panel comes in handy e.g. for project managers keeping track of construction progress or facility managers looking for a specific asset.
Users can efficiently search, filter, and sort through the annotations to pinpoint specific items of interest. The “Go to annotation” button provides a direct link to the 3D/360° environment where the annotation was created, simplifying the process of reviewing and understanding the context.
Point Cloud Export Updates
The point cloud export process has been enhanced for a more user-friendly experience. Ideal for designers, architects, clients of service providers, or anyone looking to create the as-built models, export options are now conveniently located on the right-hand side panel. This allows users to simultaneously clip desired point cloud portions and choose available export settings. Additionally, users can now customize point cloud resolution, increasing the volume of data that can be exported. This feature is particularly useful for exporting to the Autodesk RCS file format.
Improved Measurements
We’re introducing a new functionality that allows users to visualize measurements along X, Y, and Z axes. This benefits projects with established coordinate systems, such as those uploaded from SCENE when surveyed control points are applied to the scan data. Simply take a measurement and change display mode in the measurement menu. The display will then switch from 3D to showing distances along the X, Y, and Z axes.
Hold down the SHIFT key while measuring to snap the distance to either a vertical or horizontal orientation. This makes it easier to measure distances like ceiling-to-floor height.
