2D Objects Now Visible to All Users

2D objects created in HoloBuilder’s Web Editor like PDF or photo attachments, website links, warning icons, are now visible to guests and viewers in Sphere XG, not just admins and editors.

2d objects in sphere xg

This change brings your known and loved workflows from HoloBuilder to Sphere XG, ensuring your team has consistent access to visual annotations. Please note that audio and video attachments are not visible in Sphere XG yet.

Special case: 2D photo objects are also visible alongside 360° and standalone 2D photos in the gallery view of the time travel drop down introduced in November. These objects allow users to annotate 360° photos with detail shots or close-ups of specific elements within a 360° photo.

Richer Project Documentation With 2D Photos

Field technicians, subcontractors, inspectors, and project stakeholders can contribute to the site documentation using the device already in their pocket. It’s now easier to add jobsite details with your smartphone. 2D photos can be taken or uploaded via the JobWalk App, HoloBuilder Web Editor, or directly through Sphere XG, making the process even more accessible than before.

Add 2D photos to your floor plan or pin it within a 360° photo to add extra detail.

There are two types of 2D photos:

  • Location-based: You can add 2D photos onto your sheets, e.g. if you don’t have a 360° camera at hand. This can be done while capturing with the JobWalk app or in Sphere XG by right-clicking on the floor plan and choosing “Import 2D Photo”. Depending if a 360° photo is also available at that location, the icon on the floor plan will either be just a photo icon or a round waypoint with a photo icon.

Improved View for Orbis Paths

Having several Orbis captures on one floor plan can seem chaotic, but in the view setting you can simply hide the trajectories to declutter the view. The walking path will then be visualized in a dotted line instead of a solid line.

Floor Plan Generation Beta Period Extended

Have you already tested the floor plan generation feature? Good News if you haven’t, but are still eager to try! The beta period has been extended until March, so if you would like to see how easy it is to generate a 2D floor plan from your 3D scans, just ping your customer success manager and they will get you set up.
